healing

Mon Nov 2, 2009, 6:56 PM
you ever get the need for healing, but can't dedicate yourself to getting it? That's kinda how I'm feeling. Let me explain:

All through undergrad, I worked very hard on classes (mostly math/physics), but always managed to find at least 6 hours a week to make art and do art classes. That's all past now. I am currently working on my masters in physics and teaching physics labs. I am also completely drained of confidence and enthusiasm and swamped with work that I never imagined. I'm wondering if there is a correlation between the lack of art and creativity and the drain. Through physics, we explore the logical, quantitative aspects of the world around us; we explore the same world through art, but much different aspects of it, the emotive and intuitive parts of it. By not creating art, I think I've cut myself off from a release valve.

Wandering through your (yes you all) galleries felt good tonight. It's been forever and a day since I've put paint to canvas, and I'm glad someone continues where I have not.

Horray! I have a semi-real job (at least for the summer)! space physicist at a company out in Lawrence, KS. Also, I opened up a Brickshelf account: [link]

Been doing concept sketches for a developing game... not ready for viewing yet... :)

Hi everyone. I know i haven't updated with more pictures in awhile. admittedly, the only art i've been doing is art history. well, i guess philosophically, i've been doing art in the pure abstract forms of equations and logic, but i thinks most people who would read this would not buy into that... personal taste, i guess.

anyway. shopping for grad schools is not as fun as you would think.

huzzah! my car isn't stuck in the mud anymore.

i realized i haven't updated this site in a while, but i do check it when ever i check my email (which is about every day). admittedly, i've been a little preoccupied with wedding stuff, school, honors project, a whole bunch of... junk... life throws at you, etc. also, most of my creative energies have been put towards lego castles. not the little playsets you buy at toys 'r us, i'm talking a 2.5 x 3 ft sculpture. currently, it's an oriental-themed castle. i'll probably end up getting a brickshelf account and i'll post a link, since i'm not sure the art world is ready to accept lego creations as fine art.

although i have been painting flowers lately. they just aren't finished/posted.

also, if you haven't already, go see The Spirit. it's based on the Will Eisner graphic novel and is done very well.

fixed

in response to previous entry, i think i have fixed the cookie problem (although we might have another, because cookies and milk sound really good right now...)

so, i should be around more. maybe i'll even get more of a chance to make art! i have been swamped working on school work: two physics labs a week, music project (over video game music!), studying for GRE (regular and physics versions), keeping up in art history, etc... also, Metal Gear Solid 3 has taken up the little free time i had...

ps- i wanna be a dork and get a brickshelf site. i'll let you know when that happens

  • Eating: party mix!
  • Drinking: Tylenol cough and cold...
