All through undergrad, I worked very hard on classes (mostly math/physics), but always managed to find at least 6 hours a week to make art and do art classes. That's all past now. I am currently working on my masters in physics and teaching physics labs. I am also completely drained of confidence and enthusiasm and swamped with work that I never imagined. I'm wondering if there is a correlation between the lack of art and creativity and the drain. Through physics, we explore the logical, quantitative aspects of the world around us; we explore the same world through art, but much different aspects of it, the emotive and intuitive parts of it. By not creating art, I think I've cut myself off from a release valve.
Wandering through your (yes you all) galleries felt good tonight. It's been forever and a day since I've put paint to canvas, and I'm glad someone continues where I have not.
